We made it!

My pregnancy is now considered full term - meaning our baby is developmentally ready to handle life outside the womb!! Now it's just a waiting game.

I think we have everything we "need" immediately for the baby after a hefty shopping day yesterday, and a ton of great baby boy clothes on loan from my sister-in-law. We have the labor and recovery bags mostly packed (I still need to pick out a cute going-home outfit for the baby), the "labor plan" document done, the "notification list" on hand, and our hospital pre-registration complete. The final important step is to install the car seat, which we are going to do this week, and are getting it inspected by a professional on Saturday.

We completed our last birthing class last week which was about newborn care. Phil got to model in front of the class how to bathe the baby. We learned how to change a diaper, take care of the umbilical cord stump before it falls off, and swaddle the baby in various ways.

So I guess you could say we're ready! (But I sure don't feel that way!!) ;)

Not a good time to be sick. :(

About Tuesday last week my throat started hurting when I swallowed. By Wednesday I was miserable with a nasty cough and congestion throughout my head, so I went home after suffering through a half day at work and have barely been out of bed since. Coughing while 8 mos. pregnant is not a fun thing. My ab muscles are now so sore it hurts to move. My nose and ears are plugged so breathing and sleeping are challenging. Poor Phil is doing his best to nurse me back to health but I would hate for him to get sick too. There are only a few medications that are ok to take during pregnancy, and even those are not 100% "safe", so I'm trying to beat this cold with lots of fluid, rest, and gargling salt water (ick!!) and only taking medicine when it's absolutely unbearable. Please keep us in your prayers that I will be back to health before the baby's born and that Phil stays healthy. The worst thing would be to feel like this in labor, or for Phil to be sick when our baby is born.

Ok. Sorry for the whining. Back to bed.

Guess Baby Lott's birthweight

How much do you think Baby Lott is going to weigh? My doctor made a prediction at my last appointment, so I'm curious to see if she's correct (I'm not telling what her guess is.) See how close you get. Keep in mind, "average" is about 7 lbs. 6 oz. And if you say I'm going to have a 10 lb. baby you will be in BIG trouble! ;)

Also, don't forget to guess the birthday! See "Guess The Birthday" post.

Baby Shower - April 15, 2007

**Please click here to see more photos from this shower on shutterfly.com**

What another really fun baby shower! My sister Nicole threw us a shower at my dad's house in Newcastle and once again we are blown away by the generosity and thoughtfulness of our friends and family. What a blessing! My sister did a wonderful job with the food, decorations, and a unique baby shower activity: Theme CDs! Anyone who's heard about "Gravity Theme Days" will know I love a good theme CD mix. Guests at the shower got into teams and drew a "theme" out of a hat and then had to come up with 10 or so songs with that theme and decorate the CD label and cover art. Baby Lott aces his test

The doctor was thoroughly impressed by our Fetal Non-Stress Test results yesterday. She said it could be a text-book example of a perfect, beautiful NST. His heartbeat responded just as it should to activity and his resting heartbeat is also a really strong, solid rate. He is moving a lot, which is also great, and my doctor couldn't be more pleased with my whole check-up. All good news. Mommy and Daddy are proud of our little guy already. (No name, yet. Sorry!)

Nursery Decorating Frustration

Phil and I have been running into one roadblock after another as we try to get the baby's room furnished and decorated. The first bedding line we loved was discontinued pretty much the week we found it. Then after I ordered the perfect rug for the room, I was notified that it was on back-order for who-knows how long so I had to cancel that order and find a different one. Then the dresser/changing table comb we ordered is on back order until 06/14 even though when we ordered it online it said it was available. So for the first few weeks we'll be changing him on the floor.

Now I just learned that the glider/ottoman set we ordered from Target.com was practically delivered last Friday (tracking says it made it to Bellevue) and now the tracking says it is being "returned to seller". When I called to see what happened, they said someone at Target distribution shipped it with the wrong DHL carrier method so when it arrived in Bellevue to be delivered by a subsidiary company, they rejected it for being overweight and undeliverable. Now, of course, the glider is out of stock on Target.com, so they can't just send me a new one! The one I purchased that is getting returned to the Target Returns Center can't be stopped or sent back to me because Target sucks and they can't track the item when it arrives in the returns center and there is "nothing they can do" except offer me a full, immediate refund. That glider was the only one that was decent style (as far as gliders go) and that matched our nursery decor, and was the lowest price we could find anywhere. So now we're going to order the one from Costco, which is more expensive, less attractive, and takes 4-6 weeks to arrive. I'm so frustrated.

Dare I even ask, what next?! So much for wanting the nursery all set up before he's born. This is too stressful!!!

Baby Shower - March 31, 2007

**Please click here to see more photos of this shower**

Phil and I feel so incredibly blessed by the thoughtfulness and generosity of everyone who made the shower this last Saturday so special. My sister-in-law Katie created a beautiful, sentimental message board that had a baby picture of Phil with a message from his mom, and a baby picture of me with a message from my mom that all the guests also signed. Someone should've warned me to wear waterproof mascara! Katie also did a ton of work on amazing decorations and flower arrangements, fun games, and a delicious ice cream cake! She really did an exceptional job. And thank you to my mother-in-law Doris, for hosting the shower at her home, for all the great food, and all the work she did as well. What an unforgettable day!

I was overwhelmed with emotion when my Grandma Ruth surprised me by flying all the way up from California to attend the shower. I totally didn't expect that. I can't believe how everyone kept such a good secret! She also passed down a silver spoon that was used by my dad as a baby. It will be a family heirloom for each generation.

Baby Lott is going to be a very stylish baby! We received lots of cute clothes. And the super-soft blankets make me so excited to cuddle with my little son! We are also grateful for all the baby necessities, accessories, and toys we received that will be very useful. I'm starting to not feel so overwhelmed by all the stuff we need. We washed the 0-3 month newborn outfits and blankets, and as we were putting them away, Phil insisted he just had some lint in his eyes, but I know the truth... ;)

I'm excited for the next shower my sister is throwing for us on April 15 and the one Robin from church is throwing us on April 22. We really appreciate all the friends and family who are celebrating this special time with us.
